Cadet Alternate

The Cadet Alternate Uniform

The cadet "alternate" uniform is basically what every cadet starts their cadet career wearing, and many of the items are acquired when squadron dues and the one time supply fee have been paid -- dark blue plain ball cap, squadron tee shirt, and sand Rigger's belt.

So what is the cadet alternate uniform exactly?

Alright from head to toe...

  • Plain Blue Ball Cap (purchased when you join)

    • remember because you are in uniform hats, called "covers" in the military are removed when indoors and put back on when outdoors

  • Squadron Tee Shirt (also purchased when you join; plain white tee shirt may be worn as substitute)

    • needs to be clean and free of wrinkles

    • needs to be tucked in

  • Sand Rigger's Belt (likewise purchased when you join; this belt will be used with your ABUs when you get them)

    • must go through all belt loops

    • buckle should align with the fly of blue jeans

  • Blue Jeans

    • needs to be clean and free of wrinkles

    • must not have rips or tears

    • just regular plain old blue jeans, no fashion faded, scuffed, prestressed, whatever style jeans

  • Footwear

    • must be closed toe

    • should be at least tennis shoes

    • could be black ABU boots

  • Outerwear

    • If we are in blues, then again, dark blue or black

    • If we are in ABUs, then likewise, foliage green, light grey, sand, or black (see a common denominator?)

    • Note: solid colors, no polka dots, stripes, or patterns (additionally no current or retired camouflage, this means no woodland, no OCP, etc. if you’re going to go ahead and wear camouflage then you can get the proper one); no logos preferred, otherwise as minimal as you can find

    • Note: jackets are authorized and encouraged for wear during opening and closing formations when we're in "cold weather uniform standards" – stay warm!
